Task Reordering

Task Reordering lets you manually arrange tasks within a list by dragging them into the order that makes sense for your workflow. Instead of being locked into a sort order defined by dates or priorities, you can sequence tasks exactly the way you want to work through them.
✍️ How Task Reordering works
Every task in an applicable list has a drag handle that appears when you hover or select the task. Grab the handle and drag the task to any position in the list — above or below other tasks — to set your preferred order.
The order is saved automatically and persists until you change it or apply a different sort.
🎙️ How to reorder tasks
Open any task list (personal Tasks, team Tasks, or a view that supports reordering)
Hover over a task or select it — a drag handle appears on the left side
Hold and drag the handle to move the task up or down
Release to drop it in the new position
The order saves automatically
💡 The handle appears after a brief hover — if you move too quickly, pause for a moment on the task to reveal it.
⚠️ Where reordering is and isn't available
Reordering is available in:
Personal task lists
Team task lists (All and Unassigned tabs)
Custom database views without a forced sort
Reordering is not available in:
Overdue — tasks here are sorted by date and cannot be manually ordered
Upcoming — tasks are sorted chronologically by scheduled date
Inbox — contains mixed content types (tasks, events, notifications) with their own ordering logic
Views with an active sort applied — manual ordering is disabled when a sort is in force
💡 Why manual ordering matters
Automated sorting by date or priority is useful, but it doesn't always reflect how you actually want to work. Task Reordering lets you:
Sequence tasks in the order you plan to tackle them
Surface the most important task at the top regardless of its scheduled date
Create a personal execution order that matches your thinking
Quickly reprioritize mid-day by dragging tasks up or down
It's a small feature with a big impact on how natural and personal your task list feels.
🗣️ Use cases
Task Reordering is especially useful for:
Daily planning — arrange today's tasks in the order you want to work through them
Focus sequencing — put your most important task first so it's always visible
Team task ordering — sequence team tasks in priority order without changing their status or dates
Flexible triage — quickly drag urgent tasks to the top when priorities change during the day
Personal workflow — create a task order that matches how your brain works, not just when things are due
